Newton loved the romanticism of the water and spent much of his career in Monte Carlo. "Winnie on Deck," also known as "Cruising from Behind," shows Newton at his overtly sexual best. Playing on the hierarchies between Captain and sailor, Newton creates sexually unabashed imagery heightened by the fantasy of the sea, and large false breasts have created an overtly exaggerated image.

Winnie Holman (the Danish supermodel who later became Jack Nicholson's lover with whom she had a daughter) was a regular favorite of Newton's models.
