The Print

Holiday-makers take the sun on a mountain top in Verbier, Switzerland, 1964. (Photo by Slim Aarons/Hulton Archive/Getty Images)

The Swiss Alps of Verbier is home to some of the best winter and summer skiing, snowboarding, and vacationing in the world. Second-to-none as a winter destination resort town, Verbier has been incredibly popular with British, German, and other European travelers--and often celebrities and royalty--since the early 20th Century. Slim Aaron's photography captures this iconic locale with some of his signature motifs--vibrant colors contrasting against the bright white of the snow and lounging tourists sleeping in the sun. "Verbier Vacation" depicts resort life of the 1960s in a fun and fanciful way that brings a smile to travelers who have been there, and those who long for the carefree life of a tranquil nap at the top of the world.

Chromagenic Prints with Continuous Tone (C-Prints)

C-type prints are notable for their continuous tone and vibrant colours. The first widely used colour print process, modern c-type prints are printed from high resolution digital files produced from drum-scanned negatives or transparencies. C-type prints use dye-based photographic papers and should not be confused with inkjet, or giclée prints. The C-Print differs from an inkjet print because it is a chemical, rather than a digital, process and as the image is enlarged, it maintains a smoothness and richness in color that is often lost when compared to a digital enlargement. Additionally, the difference between an inkjet print and a C-print really shines when you put it behind plexiglass or have the image framed.
