The Beatles Collection
Collection Description: Roger Fritz – The Beatles in Austria, 1965
In 1965, German photographer Roger Fritz (1936–2021) joined The Beatles in the Austrian Alps during the filming of Help!. A trusted friend of Astrid Kirchherr and the Hamburg arts circle, Fritz was granted rare behind-the-scenes access to the band at play — away from the stage lights and screaming crowds.
Roger Fritz (1936–2021) – German photographer, filmmaker, and close friend of The Beatles, whose candid 1965 Austria series remains one of the most intimate visual records of the band.
His images capture the youthful energy, humor, and humanity of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr as they sled, laugh, and relax in the snow. Unlike staged studio portraits, these photographs reveal a candid intimacy, preserving a fleeting moment when the Beatles were both global icons and young men enjoying a holiday together.
Each print in this collection comes directly from the artist’s private release, signed and copyright-stamped by Roger Fritz, and printed on velvet matte linen paper at his personal demand. This rare medium emphasizes the natural film grain while eliminating reflections, giving the works a timeless, cinematic quality.
With their limited editions and direct provenance, these photographs stand as museum-quality collectibles, blending fine art, music history, and cultural legacy.
