"Winnie On Deck, Cannes 1975" 16x20 Vintage Silver Gelatin Print by Helmut Newton Photography
'Winnie On Deck Cannes, 1975' 16x20 Vintage Silver Gelatin Print by Helmut Newton
Helmut Newton was known for his provocative and sensual photography, and 'Winnie On Deck Cannes, 1975' is a prime example of his work. This 16x20 vintage silver gelatin print captures the romanticism of the water and the fantasy of the sea, while also playing on hierarchies and sexual dynamics. The subject, Winnie Holman, was a favorite model of Newton's and her exaggerated image, with large false breasts, adds to the overtly sexual nature of the photograph. This print is a must-have for any collector of Newton's iconic work.
Newton spent much of his career in Monte Carlo, and this photograph showcases his love for the water and its alluring qualities. The title, 'Winnie On Deck,' also known as 'Cruising from Behind,' hints at the playful and seductive nature of the image. Winnie Holman, a Danish supermodel who later became Jack Nicholson's lover, exudes confidence and sensuality in this photograph, making it a timeless piece of art that captures the essence of Newton's style.
